The Guest House is an early Saskatchewan Homestead log house that was originally built in the 1940's. It was completely restored and renovated in 1999-2000. The house consists of three bedrooms (one on the main floor and two in the loft - the loft bedroom overlooking the Englishman River Valley has a spacious balcony), two full bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, living room and entrance. The house has an outdoor barbeque, washer and dryer, phone, fax, and satellite T.V. and is furnished with many antiques. The Guest House is fully inspected and accredited by the Saskatchewan Country Vacation Association.

Across the road from the Guest House is a 4000 acre grain and cattle farm, with a beautifully landscaped yard, where your host resides with her family. The farmyard was recently featured in the television series "The Prairie Farm Report." Tours of the farm are available with prior arrangements.

Rates and Policies

$89.00 per room per night (includes GST) based on double occupancy. The loft suites can accommodate four guests. Three or more guests per room is $145.00 per night (children under 5 free)

$240.00 for the whole house per night (includes GST) based on a maximum of eight guests.

• A minimum deposit of 50% is required within 7 days of booking.

• Check-in is 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

• Check-out is 11:00 a.m.

• GST is included in the above rates. A 7% PST charge will be applied to the room / house charge.

• Payment Methods: Personal Check, Traveler's Check, or cash

• No smoking is permitted in the Guest House; Smoking is permitted on the veranda.

• No pets in the Guest House

Nature  / Country Getaway:

If you want a quiet place to relax and enjoy nature and the country at its best, the Country Getaway is the place.

• Enjoy a private trail along the bank of the Englishman River.

• Go canoeing and fishing on the Englishman River - a canoe, paddles, and life jackets are available for your use.

• Watch the birds, beavers, otters, ducks, Canada geese and deer from the banks of the river

• Enjoy a prairie sunset and watch the stars light up the sky.

Birdwatching Base:

The area is a "Birders' Paradise."

• The Englishman River and adjacent marshes are home to a large number of birds.

• The guest house is located in a major flyway for many migrating birds and waterfowl.  Whopping cranes have been observed landing in a field within ½ mile of the guest house!

• Dense spruce bluff and large tamarack and jack pine forest, within walking distance (½ to 1½ miles) from the guest house, provide an ideal home for many birds.

Winter Vacation:

Experience winter in the country.  There are many activities available at the guest house during the winter months:

• Go skating or play hockey on the pond

• Go cross country skiing or ski-doing on the trail along the bank of the river or across the open fields on our farm.

Vacation / Holiday Base:

You can use the Country Getaway as your holiday / vacation base and:

• Go fishing, boating, water skiing or swimming at any one of several lakes. There are 12 lakes within a 20-35 minute drive of the Guest House!

• Go golfing at any one of several excellent golf courses. There are 6 golf courses located within a 5-30 minute drive of the Guest House.

• Or just spend your holiday relaxing at the Guest House.

Hunting Base:

The Getaway is situated on one of the best hunting areas in North America.

• Outstanding big game hunting – deer, moose, elk and bear.

• Our 4000 acre farm, consisting of large open grain and hay fields, riverbank and dense forests has outstanding deer hunting. Many record book bucks taken.  The world record Whitetail deer was taken in west central Saskatchewan!

• We are situated on a major migratory bird flyway –  excellent goose and duck hunting.

• We can provide transportation and hunting equipment and can assist you with the details of your hunt.

• Guests of the Getaway have access to hunt on all our farmlands.

Special Occasion:

Treat yourself and someone special to a stay at the Country Getaway on a special occasion. Romantic Packages, Christmas Packages, and special relaxation packages are specially designed for these occasions. Enjoy the privacy of having the whole house to yourself for these special intimate occasions.

Evening Dining:

Dining only, for up to 8 people, is available with prior arrangements. If you want to enjoy dinner with special friends in a private country setting contact the Guest House for information and reservations.

• Access to our natural outdoor skating rink located at the farm

Relaxation Getaway:

This package includes:

• Daily golfing pass (18 holes) at the St. Walburg Golf Course
